1/2004
As you all have noticed,
I have been delinquent in updating the
site. My main program for doing web pages,
HotMetal, has become obsolete and I am
trying to learn Dreamweaver (steeper learning
curve). The number of individuals in my
database has jumped to 33,000 and this
meant finding another way to display the
genealogy information. TNG does it quite
well but it is even a slower learning process.
2/2003
I finally found time to
upgrade the site since our move to Michigan.
Another 4,000 individuals have been added
to the trees. Many have no direct connection
to Cornelis but are indirectly connected
and were added as a courtesy to the party
that supplied helpful information. I have
also added more of my non-Botbijl ancestors
(Stap, Ham, Tubergen, Ammeraal). The Zeeuws
and Brabant web sites have made research
there much easier.
5/2002
Big addition to the genealogy
files. I added almost 3,000 more individuals
to the trees. Some have no direct connection
to Cornelis but are indirectly connected
and were added as a courtesy to the party
that supplied helpful information. I am
still behind in adding family photos. If
you emailed me the last week of April,
I may not have gotten the message. Blue
Domino upgraded servers and I lost a week
of emails.
2/2002
Cosmetic work on the menus
and home page. Updated some of the photo
files. Hope to update the genealogies in
the next couple weeks.
1/2002
More minor additions to the tree. A couple
new photos. South African cousins corrected
errors is their branch.
I have changed web hosts.
Blue Domino have supplied me with three
times the space and a faster server. The
best part is that it charges less than
my old host. It will also give me control
over eMail addresses. I may soon offer Family
on the Net eMail addresses. For a $20
annual donation, I will provide an email
address that is available by regular email
programs or web browser (like Hotmail).
Details to follow soon.
I have located a large
genealogy (39,000) that connects to my
genealogy. Although there is only one direct
connection, there are many family names
that are connected to our tree. Nico Lucas
is verifing some of the data. This could
drastically increase the file size
8/2001
Added a few more bits and pieces about
the New Jersey Botbyls. Added more non-Botbijl
cousins. Corrected some errors.
I have sold my restaurant
and will be moving to Michigan next summer.
Updates and email replies may become erratic
for a while but I will try to keep up.
2/2001
Peter Botbijl has proposed a theory on
the origin of the Botbijl name. See the
Botbol Theory menu selection under Genealogy.
I recently purchased a pint whiskey bottle
from the Forbes & Botbyl Distillery of
Patterson, New Jersey. It dates from about
1890 and I found it on eBay. It was recovered
from inside of a wall of a house being
remodeled in New York.
Henk Dubbelman has allowed me to use his
information on the Dubbelman cousins. Teuntje
Botbijl (b.1718) married Adriaan Dubbelman
and most of the Dubbelmans found here are
their decendants. Henk and I are 11th cousins
Telephone guides have been
dropped.
1/2001
Peter Bodbijl and Henk Berrevoets are continually
providing me with new information for the
tree from the Netherlands.
Lois Budbill McGrath provided all of the
information for the Budbill connections.
Adriaan Bodbijl emigrated to Cleveland Ohio
in 1849 and changed his name to John Budbill.
This was a whole new branch that was added
to our tree.
Lenie Botbyl Nickel of Ontario shared some
family photos of Andrew Botbyl (Adries Botbijl).
Andrew passed away last year at age 96.
I recently made contact with Diana Botbyl
Jacobs in South Africa. She promised corrections
and more information. She said that the Botbyl
name is fading in SA. Most of the male Botbyls
have had daughters.
A few more Botbyl photos have been plucked
off the internet.
Sorry, the telephone guides have not been
updated yet. If they are of no use to anyone
I will delete them on the next update. |
